This employee will report directly to the Group Leader, Microbiology







Overview



Under general supervision, performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. Follows established protocols and work plans. May be assisted by laboratory technicians / assistants. Comply with divisional and site Environmental Health and Safety requirements.







The Research Triangle Park (RTP) facility is Catalent's Center of Excellence for Analytical Services and is also home to Catalent's Inhalation franchise including product development, clinical and commercial manufacturing for pMDI, DPI and Nasal Sprays.







The Role





+ Execute laboratory work plan / schedule developed with input from supervisor or senior team member.



+ May draft technical documents such as methods or certificates of analysis.



+ Performs parallel review of laboratory documentation and may become qualified to perform technical review of documents for accuracy, thoroughness and regulatory compliance



+ Trains others on procedures and laboratory techniques.



+ Executes efficiency improvement project with guidance









The Candidate





+ Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years industry related or equivalent education, experience, and training OR a Master’s degree with 2-4 years industry related experience.



+ Knowledge and hands on technical experience in microbiological testing of finished products.



+ Familiar with testing of: USP <71> Sterility, USP <85> Bacterial Endotoxins, and USP <61>, USP <62> Microbial Limits/Microbial Enumeration



+ Maintain high quality laboratory documentation in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance and Site SOPs. Experience must include report writing.



+ Ability to identify aberrant/out of spec data and limited interpretation of data expected.



+ Proven ability to focus on personal time management and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.



+ Recommend improvements to established procedures and methods based upon sound scientific judgment.
