Job Summary - a concise overview of the job
The Supervisor, Packaging is responsible for monitoring all packaging line operations to ensure adherence to all SOPs, cGMPs, OSHA and safety requirements. Schedules packaging line activities and maintains responsibility for departmental staffing. Oversees daily performance against established standards and schedules. Executes packaging schedule in accordance to packaging plan. Reconciles and reviews packaging batch records upon completion and maintains responsibility for updating ERP system database. Performs classroom and hands-on training for batch records, SOP's, and cGMP's, and maintains proper documentation to ensure compliance.
All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Company policies and procedures.

Supervisor of Packaging at Chestnut Ridge, NY manufacturing plant for all shifts
Supervisor of Packaging for all shifts at Stratford, CT manufacturing plant (produces topical patches, transdermal patches and thin films)

§ Monitor status of work assignments to meet production schedules/time lines.
§ Schedule and monitor performance and attendance of all Packaging personnel.
§ Ensure all packaging equipment is working properly.
§ Review, write and edit SOPs when necessary.
§ Reconcile and review packaging batch records upon completion and maintain responsibility for updating ERP system database
§ Investigate and write up packaging incident reports.
§ Perform training and maintain documentation for SOPs, cGMPs and safety training.
§ Follow and comply with company Safety policies and OSHA Regulations
§ Maintain a safe work environment.
§ Oversee daily performance against established standards and schedules.
§ Ensure the packaging area is kept up, clean and organized at all times. Participate in the recruitment, selection, promotion, and retention of personnel.
§ Recognize and reward employees that consistently perform at high levels or go above and beyond their required job duties in order to maintain a high level of employee morale.
§ Assure and assist classroom and hands on training for batch records, SOP's, and cGMP's, and maintain proper documentation to ensure compliance. Consistently communicate, follow and enforce SOP’s and company policies and guidelines set forth in the employee handbook.
§ Identify the developmental needs of others and provide coaching, mentoring, and encouragement to help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
§ Provide regular coaching and performance feedback to employees in addition to conducting annual performance reviews. Recognize and implement performance improvement plans when needed in consultation with Human Resources Business Partner.
§ Review attendance records, PTO time and approve/deny employee time-off requests and take disciplinary action as required.
§ Direct manpower as needed, resolve conflict and assume all aspects of leadership.
Education & Experience
Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience and certifications required for the job
§ Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline and 3 – 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
§ Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry/cGMP environment is required.
§ Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
Proficiency in a body of information required for the job
e.g. knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP/GLP/GCP, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, etc.
§ Knowledge of JD Edwards, TrackWise, Excel, and MS Office Suite preferred.
§ Solid understanding of all current state, federal and local standards and regulations, e.g., cGMP, OSHA, EEOC, EPA, FDA and DEA.
