**Job Description**



The New Stanford Hospital

Stanford Health Care is adding more beds, private rooms, state-of-the-art operating suites, expanded emergency services and the flexibility the hospital needs to adapt to advancing technologies and more streamlined services.

The new Stanford Hospital will deliver a model of coordinated care that's built around the unique physical and emotional needs of each patient. Designed by the internationally recognized firm Rafael Vinoly Architects, the new 824,000-square-foot facility will feature amenities and services focused on the health and well-being of patients, as well as the most advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical technologies. It will house an additional 368 beds, bringing the total to 600 on site, and the new Emergency Department will have twice the floor space of the current facility. The building will be connected to the current hospital by a bridge and tunnel.

The new hospital will feature natural light, rooftop gardens, and the latest innovations in green technology to reduce the hospital's environmental impact.



Planning, Design + Construction:

Our department focuses on healthcare planning, design, new construction and renovation for Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children's Health. Project types include: OSHPD 1 hospitals, OSHPD 3 and Non-OSHPD ambulatory clinics, and administrative support space. Our clients are the patients, healthcare providers and staff of Stanford Health Care, whose focus is patient centric. These clients appreciate our attention to detail and our commitment to designing and constructing projects in a patient focused manner.

Reporting Relationships:

A. Position reports to: Senior Construction Manager or Director, Construction

B. Reports to position: N/A

C. Frequents Contacts (inside and outside of Hospital): Planning, Design + Construction staff, hospital administration and staff, clinical staff, Environmental Health and Safety, IT, Security, Accounts Payable, Jurisdictional Authorities, regulatory agencies, construction personnel, Architects and Engineers of record, medical equipment and furniture vendors.



Job Summary:

Planning, Design + Construction is looking for a Construction Manager with similar values and beliefs who can translate their expertise in managing construction projects to Stanford Health Care. Under the direct supervision of a Senior Construction Manager or Director of Construction the Construction Manager is primarily responsible for supervision of construction related activities, executed by a general contractor, daily during all phases of construction. Knowledge of both new construction and renovation practices will make you an excellent fit for our team. The Construction Manager is responsible for completion of construction projects within budget, on schedule, while meeting all program objectives and applicable regulations. It is the Construction Manager's responsibility to lead weekly progress meetings to discuss and resolve matters relating to: RFI's, Submittals, Substitutions, Quality, Change Management, and any other project related items. As well as review and acceptance of monthly payment applications from contractor and construction related vendors. The Construction Manager interfaces with the Project Manager regularly to coordinate project initiatives ensuring the client and all other project participants are participating in the execution of the project in an efficient and effective manner.

**Qualifications**



Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications.



Education: Bachelor's Degree in a work-related field or discipline from an accredited college or university.



Experience: Minimum of five (5) years, preferably seven plus (7+) years, of directly related work experience and level of responsibility in a comparable role.



Knowledge and Skills:

· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups both within and outside the organization and gain their cooperation.

· Ability to handle potentially sensitive situations by applying consultative skills in working with internal and external constituent groups.

· Ability to prioritize work by making informed judgments and to develop solutions for complex problems.

· Ability to manage communication on a regular and timely basis, ensuring that the appropriate project participants are informed of: project status, action items, risks, and mitigations.

· Ability to work within a regulated environment such as a hospital to ensure adherence to the policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: infection control procedures, utility shutdown procedures, etc.

· Demonstrate commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety, communicates safety concerns, uses and promotes safe behaviors based in training and lessons learned.

· Ability to assess, document, and manage construction scope. Describe: objectives, physical requirements, parameters, and constraints of a construction project. Including but limited to: clients functional needs, facility and jurisdictional criteria, operation, maintenance, quality, aesthetics and contextual issues.

· Ability to lead the solicitation and selection of contractors and construction related vendors.

· Ability to enforce contract provisions.

· Ability to determine entitlement, estimate, and negotiate any change order or potential change order for a project.

· Ability to resolve disputes and or claims that may occur.

· Ability to prepare and maintain projects records which are: accurate, coherent, timely and auditable.

· Ability to work with and create CPM schedules.

· Knowledge of plan and specification review for constructability, quality, code compliance, and budget.

· Knowledge of managing projects in CPMS environments.

· Knowledge of budgeting, financial projections and written reports.

· Knowledge of technical, professional and business practices in the fields of healthcare delivery, architecture, construction, and building design process.
