Position Summary







Catalent is looking to recruit a Development Engineer to join a growing Product Development group at our site in Woodstock, IL.



The Development Engineer is responsible for formulation and manufacturing process development through scale up and commercialization of products and processes for new customers and products.

The Development Engineer role is critical to our patients. In concert with Catalent’s Patient First philosophy, this role is paramount to develop and maintain robust drug development processes and formulations, with patient safety in mind, executing with efficiency always. Quality, safety and on-time delivery is a must to be successful in this role!







The Role





+ Work directly with the customer on formulation development, feasibility, scale up, and commercialization into blow/fill/seal packaging



+ Lead the development of scalable, robust processes that meet product specifications and assist customers in the development of product specifications based on feasibility and process capability results



+ Work on complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of intangible factors



+ Collect experimental data and analyze results of tests using engineering principles and mathematical techniques



+ Design and author comprehensive product development plans to match the life-cycle and program milestones



+ Troubleshoot technical issues related to sterile/sanitary processes, investigate process problems, support/execute corrective actions, and prepare appropriate reports on findings









The Candidate





+ Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering or related discipline required; Master of Science or PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering is desired



+ Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in pharmaceutical drug product process development, or combination of less industry experience with strong academic experience; food or personal care industry may be considered as well



+ Aseptic processing experience strongly preferred



+ Deep knowledge of mathematics, solid mechanical aptitude, and ability to perform statistical analysis for research and development



+ Working knowledge of Quality by Design principles, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and a high level of attention to detail



+ Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment on multiple projects and be flexible to adapt to ever-changing expectations/priorities
