**Job Description**

The Senior Clinical Systems Analyst supports core functions of the health system's applications to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. This position will implement, administer, and support assigned systems under the minimal guidance of senior members of the team. The position will have a thorough understanding of Epic modules, ancillary systems, and health system operations. This position independently addresses issues and design decisions of moderate to high complexity with little or no supervision and delivers clear communication and documentation of complex concepts and issues related to applications, interfaces, data structures, and workflows across the organization.


Stanford Health Care recently won the 29th Annual CIO100 award for the work on SHC's MyHealth eCheckin and integrated Wayfind solution. The solution reminds the patient of their upcoming appointments, allows them to complete the check-in process in the comfort of their home, get step by step directions on campus to their clinic and be automatically checked in on arrival.

Every year, the CIO 100 recognizes and celebrates organizations and their IT teams that distinguish themselves by creating business value through innovative use of technology. This year there were over 400 organizations vying for a coveted top 100 spot.

The College of HealthCare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has designated Stanford Health Care again this year for 2018 Most Wired recognition at the CHIME Fall CIO Forum in San Diego.

This is Stanford Health Care's ninth year in a row receiving this recognition.

Essential Functions:

Draw on knowledge of Intersystems Ensemble software & Epic Bridges, current issues and trends in health care and clinical operations in healthcare to support core functions of the hospital applications systems to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. Install, configure, administer and support the Intersystems

Ensemble Interface system with minimal guidance from senior members of team.

Act as second level of support and triage system problems regarding Intersystems

Ensemble, working in server operating systems such as AIX 6.1 and Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 and Microsoft Office.

Independently address issues and design decisions of moderate complexity with little or no supervision. Perform a major role in complex software upgrade initiatives.

Assist in the implementation of medium complexity tools and workflows, using UNIX shell scripting and WinBatch scripting skills.

Lead medium to high complexity software upgrade initiatives or enhancements to workflows, including diagnosing and resolving routine technology problems.

Lead test activities for medium to high complexity new implementation, enhancements or upgrades.

Modify database tables; make additions and changes as required.

Implement changes using documented procedures that are compliant with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and using effective approaches to choose a course of action or develop appropriate solutions or conclusions.

Take ownership of medium to high complexity issues and act as a liaison between customer and other support staff to facilitate resolution, using appropriate interpersonal skills to give and receive information in a tactful and professional manner.

Perform role of project manager or project coordinator for medium to high complexity projects, including establishing a set of tasks and activities associated with the intended outcome and timeline.

Work with and mentor System Analyst, Associate Systems Analysts to document workflows and also provide them with technical guidance.

Assist Principal Systems Analysts in developing and maintaining requirements/specifications and test cases for new or enhanced functionality to department applications, demonstrating a desire to learn to resolve specialized and advanced technology problems.

Collaborate with infrastructure teams in delivering appropriate backup and recovery procedures for all applications. Conduct periodic recovery tests.

Continually identify areas of opportunity for improvement in system and application monitoring. Work with appropriate teams to fully automate monitoring and alerting.

Identify system optimization and enhancements and collaborate with vendors and other IT analysts in order to design and implement effective solutions.

Identify trends and detect/anticipate problems early. Research issues and use independent analysis and judgment to produce solution options, (including alternative solutions when necessary to address system limitations) to complex and controversial matters, including pros, cons, risks, benefits, costs, and unintended consequences.

Review system configuration and design options in order to make appropriate recommendations for system maintenance requests.

Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, instructional, presentation and interpersonal skills focused on motivation and positive attitude.

Participate in team and cross-team meetings and maintain appropriate meeting records. Provide ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of applications; including 24/7 on coverage as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Systems, Electronics Technology, Computer Engineering, Health Information Management or a directly-related field from an accredited college or university

Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Prefer experience in IT systems analysis and development

Preferred Experience:

5 years of experience CSP development, VSS/CVS/Clear case integration

5 years of experience in HL7, EDI, CCD and ANSI formats, with parser development experience

5 years of experience in web services development using SOAP, winbatch programming and wireshark

3 years of experience in Ensemble & cache programming

3 years of experience using Epic Bridges and use of Epic Bridges in at least 2 Epic implementations
