**Job Description**



The New Stanford Hospital

Stanford Health Care is adding more beds, private rooms, state-of-the-art operating suites, expanded emergency services and the flexibility the hospital needs to adapt to advancing technologies and more streamlined services.

The new Stanford Hospital will deliver a model of coordinated care that's built around the unique physical and emotional needs of each patient. Designed by the internationally recognized firm Rafael Vinoly Architects, the new 824,000-square-foot facility will feature amenities and services focused on the health and well-being of patients, as well as the most advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical technologies. It will house an additional 368 beds, bringing the total to 600 on site, and the new Emergency Department will have twice the floor space of the current facility. The building will be connected to the current hospital by a bridge and tunnel.

The new hospital will feature natural light, rooftop gardens, and the latest innovations in green technology to reduce the hospital's environmental impact.

The Trauma Advanced Practice Provider functions under the General APP Standardized Process Protocol approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). The APP provides routine care and management of the injured patient, in collaboration with the supervising physician and through implementation of the standardized procedures. The role requires that the Trauma APP effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff, and members of the community with diverse backgrounds. The APP evaluates and treats patients with acute and chronic complaints related to the specialty according to written standardized procedures (includes Trauma Clinic patients). The APP: Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new patients according to written standardized procedures Orders and furnishes medications according to written standardized procedures Performs designated procedures after demonstrating competency according to written standardized procedures where applicable Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient according to written standardized procedures Recognizes and considers age specific needs of patients Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary. **Qualifications**



At least one year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an acute care setting is strongly preferred.

Nurse Practitioner

Education: Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university is, required.



License/Certification: BLS - Basic Life Support, required. ACLS. ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

License/Certification: CA Registered Nurse (RN), required.

License/Certification: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally recognized nursing organization (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners-AANP, American Nurses Credentialing Center-ANCC, or any successor organizations), required.

License/Certification: DEA - DEA Number from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, required.

License/Certification: CA NP - Nurse Practitioner, required.

License/Certification: NPF - NP Furnishing Number, required.



Physician Assistant

Education: Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college or university (Note: PAs hired prior to July 1, 2012 are not subject to this educational requirement.) Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.



License/Certification: Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of California is required.

License/Certification: BLS - Basic Life Support, required. ACLS. ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) must be obtained within 3 months of hire

License/Certification: DEA - DEA Number from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, required.

License/Certification: Must be board certified from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) at the time of hire and maintain certification during employment at SHC.
